2022 marks the 60th anniversary of U-Line. We are excited to celebrate our history, our success, and all the incredible accomplishments achieved thanks to our employees, customers, partners, and the local community.
Our history and heritage of innovation is evidence of our commitment to challenging the status quo. From our early days of introducing America to the first home undercounter ice maker in 1962, we have claimed many industry firsts and patents, including the first undercounter wine refrigerator. While our products have evolved over the last six decades and progressed through 3 generations of family leadership before becoming part of the Middleby family of brands in 2014, one thing remains the same—U-Line continues to proudly design, engineer, and assemble our products in America’s Heartland in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.

It all started when Henry Uihlein, Sr. founded U-Line Corporation as an outgrowth of Ben-Hur Freezer Company and was the first to develop and patent an automatic stand-alone undercounter residential ice maker. His foresight and determination to develop new ideas and succeed without clear guidelines led to the company’s early success. That story continues as we carry on the company’s innovative legacy and unwavering dedication to product design, quality, and selection with current industry-leading features like the highest nugget ice machine production and full-depth lower interiors on our 5 class products. After 60 years, we remain focused on continuing to provide the best premium modular ice making, refrigeration, and wine preservation in the industry.

Working closely with various domestic and global agencies such as DOE and AHAM, we take pride in leading the industry to establish energy standards, often years ahead of governmental agency and energy requirement mandates.
We continue to grow our product offering and expand to additional markets including a growing line of products designed specifically for restaurants, bars, and hospitality; branded U-Line Commercial.
